Privacy Policy
Marketing Assets Inc. ("Marketing Assets," "we," "our," or "us") is a Canadian web design and digital marketing agency that builds websites and runs SEO, AEO, and GEO marketing for businesses across Canada and the United States. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through marketingassets.ca (the "Site") and in the course of providing our services, how we use and protect it, and the choices and rights you have.
We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws. If you contact us from the United States, we also honour the access and deletion rights described below.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
When you submit a project inquiry through our contact form or multi-step project wizard, or when you email or call us, we collect:
- Your name, email address, and phone number (where provided)
- Company or business name (where provided)
- Your message and any project details you choose to share
- Project-scoping answers: service of interest, country, budget range, timeline, and any existing website URL
Inquiries are delivered directly to our inbox at accounts@marketingassets.ca. We do not load your submission into a third-party CRM or advertising database.
Information we collect automatically
- Approximate country (from your IP). On your first visit, your browser calls our own endpoint (
/api/geo.php) to determine your approximate country. We use this only to set the default currency display (CA$ or US$). We do not store your IP address beyond the moment of that request. - Local preferences. Your chosen currency is saved in your browser's local storage (key
ma-currency), and a short-lived country estimate is cached (keyma-geo, up to 7 days). Both stay on your device and are never sent to us. - Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard request logs (such as IP address, timestamp, and page requested) for security and reliability. These are retained only for a short period by the provider.
Information we process on behalf of clients
When we build or run marketing for a client, we may access systems that contain personal information belonging to that client and their customers (for example, a content management system, analytics account, or contact submissions). We act as a service provider (data processor) for that information, use it only to perform the agreed services, and return or delete it on request at the end of an engagement.
2. What we do not do
- We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or third-party tracking scripts on this Site.
- We do not place advertising or cross-site tracking cookies on your device.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we never have.
3. How we use your information
We use the information you provide to:
- Respond to your inquiry and answer your questions
- Prepare and deliver a proposal, quote, or statement of work
- Deliver, support, and improve the services you engage us for
- Handle billing, and meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations
Our lawful basis is your consent (which you give by contacting us) and our legitimate interest in responding to and serving prospective and active clients.
4. Marketing communications and CASL
We do not add you to a marketing list simply because you contacted us. We send commercial electronic messages (such as newsletters or service updates) only with your consent, in compliance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every such message identifies us and includes a way to unsubscribe, and we honour unsubscribe requests promptly. Replying to a project inquiry or sending you a proposal you requested is not marketing.
5. How we share information
We share personal information only in these limited cases:
- Service providers. Trusted vendors that help us operate, such as our website host and email provider, process information on our behalf under confidentiality obligations and only as needed to provide their service.
- Legal and safety. Where required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.
- Business transfer. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.
6. Data retention
We keep your inquiry only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected. If a project does not proceed, we generally delete the correspondence within 12 months. If you become a client, we retain project communications and records for the engagement and for a reasonable period afterward to meet our legal, tax, and warranty obligations, then delete or anonymize them.
7. How we protect your information
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) on this Site, access controls, and reputable, security-conscious service providers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit who can access it.
8. Where your information is handled
Marketing Assets Inc. is based in Ontario, Canada, and serves clients across Canada and the United States. Information you submit is handled in Canada and may be processed by service providers in Canada or the United States. By submitting information through this Site, you consent to this handling. Where information is processed outside your province or country, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
9. Your privacy rights
You may request to access, correct, update, or delete the personal information we hold about you, withdraw consent, or ask how your information has been used and disclosed. To exercise any of these rights, email accounts@marketingassets.ca with the subject line "Privacy Request." We will verify your request and respond within 30 days. If you are in the United States, the same access and deletion rights apply, and because we do not sell personal information, there is nothing to opt out of in that respect.
10. Children's privacy
This Site and our services are intended for businesses and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of majority. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Third-party links
This Site may link to external websites we do not control. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to review their policies before sharing personal information.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be posted on this page, and continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the revised Policy.
